Chat Preview
Need a Google Chat conversation on screen for a video, a tutorial, a story or a design mock-up? The fake Google Chat generator draws a conversation the way Google Chat's mobile app shows it today: the person's picture and status at the top, grey and light blue message bubbles, the sender's name and time over each run of messages, emoji reactions, the small picture that shows how far the other person has read, and the "History is on" message box at the bottom.
Choose an iPhone or an Android phone, light or dark mode, a direct message or a group, write the messages from both sides, then download the chat as a picture or record it as a video in which the messages arrive one by one. It works in your browser and nothing is ever sent to anyone.
Google Chat is Google's messaging app: the Google Chat app on iPhone and Android, and the Chat tab of the Gmail app, which shows the same conversations. This tool makes that kind of conversation, short messages in bubbles, not an email with a subject line. Google Chat replaced Google Hangouts, which Google retired in 2022, so this is the chat Google's users see today.
Looking for something else? For a random email address, use the fake email generator. For the old Hangouts look, use the Android Hangouts or iPhone Hangouts generator. For text messages in Google Messages, use the Android text message generator.
1. Pick the phone. In Display Settings, choose iPhone or Android and light or dark mode, and set the status bar: clock, network, signal and battery.
2. Set up the chat. In the Chat tab, choose a direct message or a group. Add the person's name, picture and status, or the group's name, members and member count.
3. Write the messages. In the Messages tab, add texts, photos and dates from you or the other side. Give each its time, a reaction, or the read marker; edit, move or remove them in the list, or click a message in the Preview to edit it.
4. Download or record. Open Download HD Image/Video to save a PNG, JPG or WEBP picture, or choose Screen Recording to make a video of the chat.
The conversation — a direct message or a group chat, its name and picture, and "N members" under a group's name
The status — Active (a green dot), Away (an empty ring), Do Not Disturb (a red badge) or none on the person's picture
The messages — text with emoji and links, photos and dates, from either side, each with its own time ("4:21 PM", "10 min", "Now")
Reactions and read marker — an emoji reaction with its count under any message, and the other person's small picture where they have read up to
The look — Google Chat's iPhone or Android design, light or dark mode, "History is on" or "History is off" in the message box
The phone — the status bar, the screen size, the font and the text size of the whole screen
The Preview follows Google Chat's own design, measured against real screens of the app. On Android it has the current Material 3 Expressive look: the top bar with the call, video call and search buttons, the Chat and Shared tabs, the conversation on a sheet with round top corners, and the message box with its round + button. On iPhone it has the app's iPhone layout: the back chevron, the video call and more buttons, and the outlined message box with its blue buttons.
Both use Google's own typeface, Google Sans, Google's Material Symbols icons and Google's colours, in light and dark mode. Messages from the other side sit on the left under their picture, name and time; yours sit on the right under their time, as in the app. A group shows the members' pictures together in the top bar and each member's name over their messages.
Screen Recording turns the chat into a video for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Reels or a presentation. The messages appear one at a time: typing dots come before each message from the other side, and your messages are typed into the message box and sent, the send arrow taking the microphone's place while there is text. Choose the quality, format and speed, and the video downloads when it is done.
Chat story videos — scripted conversations for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram
Tutorials and help docs — showing how Google Chat works without sharing a real conversation
Design and product mock-ups — a Google Chat screen for a pitch, a prototype or a case study
Lessons and training — examples of workplace messaging, etiquette or online-safety awareness
This tool makes pictures and videos of made-up conversations for fun, creative work, education and design. It does not send messages, does not connect to your Google account and cannot change any real chat. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google; Google Chat and Gmail are Google's trademarks. Never use a generated chat to impersonate someone, deceive or defraud people, or as evidence of a conversation that did not happen.
Save keeps the conversation, its pictures included, in your browser, so you can come back and change it later; Save Setting keeps your phone, theme and status bar as a preset for the next chat. Premium accounts also keep them in their account. For other apps, try the WhatsApp chat, iPhone text message, Instagram DM and LinkedIn chat generators.
Yes. You can make, preview and download a Google Chat conversation in your browser, and you do not need a Google account.
A chat. It draws a Google Chat conversation: short messages in bubbles between people, not an email with a subject line. For a random email address, use FakeDetail's fake email generator instead.
Yes. The Chat tab of the Gmail app shows Google Chat, the same conversations as the Google Chat app. Google Chat replaced Google Hangouts when Google retired Hangouts in 2022. This tool draws today's Google Chat design; for the old Hangouts look, use FakeDetail's Android or iPhone Hangouts generators.

Yes. Give any message an emoji reaction with a count, shown under the bubble as in Google Chat, and switch on Read Up To Here to put the other person's small picture beside the last message they have read.
Both. Download HD Image saves the screen as a PNG, JPG or WEBP picture, Full Screen saves the whole conversation, and Screen Recording makes a video in which the messages arrive one by one, with typing dots and your messages typed into the message box.
No. Nothing is sent and nothing connects to Google Chat or your Google account: the tool only makes a picture or a video. It is not affiliated with Google. Use it for fun, creative work, lessons and mock-ups, never to impersonate or deceive anyone.
