Fake WhatsApp Status Generator: Create WhatsApp Status Mockups

Want to show what a WhatsApp status could look like without posting anything to your real account?

This fake WhatsApp status mockup generator lets you create a custom status screen for design work, product testing, presentations, marketing materials, demos, and personal projects.

No real WhatsApp account is required. No real status update.

Customize Every Part of Your Status Screen

Creating a status mockup is only the first step. The useful part begins when you start changing the details around it.

First, Choose the Phone You Want to Design for

At the top of the editor, you'll find two device choices:

  • iPhone
  • Android

Select the one that matches your project.

The rest of the customization can then be adjusted around that device style.

Decide Whose Status You're Showing

Before editing the status itself, go to User Profile.

This is where you choose the context of the screen.

You'll see:

  • A Contact
  • My Status

Creating a Contact Status

Select A Contact when the mockup needs to show another person's status.

The profile area lets you enter a name and work with the profile photo.

You can also customize:

  • Time according to device
  • Label after the time
  • Label text
  • Icon
  • Chevron after the label

This is useful when your design needs to represent a status belonging to a fictional contact.

Creating Your Own Status

Choose My Status when you're designing a personal-status screen.

You can add a Profile Photo. Along with that,

You can add -

  • Name according to device
  • Status time
  • Text
  • Reshare icon visibility

There are also audience options, including:

  • Audience emoji
  • Audience button visibility

Go Back to Status and Choose Status Type

You'll see two status types:

  • Photo
  • Text

Build a Photo Status

  • Upload an image and add a caption

For example, a marketing mockup might contain a product image with a short promotional caption.

Build a Text Status

A Status Text field appears where you can enter your message.

Below that, you can choose

  • Choose background
  • Text size (px)

Set the Status Progress

Under the status content, you'll find the Progress section.

You can set:

  • Total number of updates

  • Which update is currently being viewed

  • Played percentage

  • Liked status indicator

These values can be edited directly.

Create the Viewer List

If your design needs to show people who viewed the status, use the Viewers section.

First, you can enable the Show viewers sheet.

The editor provides a Total Views field as well as an Add Viewer area, so you can easily customize WhatsApp status views and the viewer details shown in the mockup.

For each viewer, you can enter:

  • Name
  • Time for iPhone
  • Time for Android
  • Whether they liked the status
  • Viewer photo

Then hit the Add Viewer button.

If you make a mistake, the viewer entries also have edit and delete controls, so you don't have to rebuild the whole list.

There's also a Clear Form option when you want to reset the fields used to add another viewer.

Why This Matters?

The fake details WhatsApp status views section isn't just for decoration—it lets you create custom viewer details for your status mockup.

You can make a complete visual scenario where the fake WhatsApp status screenshot and its audience are shown together.

For a product prototype or presentation, that can communicate much more than a status image on its own.

Customize the Phone Screen With Display Settings

Now move to Display Settings.

This is separate from the status content.

Here, you're controlling the phone interface around your status.

The settings are divided into four areas:

  • Layout Settings
  • Header Settings
  • Footer Settings
  • Media Settings

This separation makes customization easier because you can change the content and the phone interface independently.

Adjust Layout Settings

In Layout Settings, choose the device layout, theme, font size, and screen size for your mockup.

  • Layout: iPhone or Android

  • Theme: Dark or Light

  • Font Size: Adjust the overall text size

  • Screen Size: Choose an available screen-size preset

Build the Header With Header Settings

Open Header Settings when you want to control the top part of the phone.

The editor lets you configure the status bar and several elements underneath it.

You can work with:

  • Status bar and clock
  • Network connection
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth indicators
  • Signal indicator
  • Battery percentage
  • Charging state
  • Progress bar
  • Back button
  • Profile photo
  • Menu button

This is useful when you need more control over the phone interface instead of changing only the status content.

Footer Settings - Customize the Bottom

Footer Settings lets you control the lower part of the status screen. You can enable or disable the Reply Bar, Like Button, Reshare Button, and Home Bar.

For iPhone, you can also choose between Liquid Glass and Classic styles and customize the reply text. A separate reply-text field is available for Android.

You can also enable Quick Reactions and add the reactions you want to display.

Media Settings - Decide How the Photo Should Appear

For photo-based statuses, use Media Settings to control how the image appears on the screen.

  • Photo Backdrop: Ambient or Black

  • Photo Fit: Fit or Fill Screen

These options let you change the way the uploaded image is displayed without modifying the original photo.

Check Everything in Preview

Once you've finished editing, look at the phone preview.

This is where all your settings come together.

Check:

  • Text placement
  • Profile information
  • Status progress
  • Reply area
  • Header controls
  • Photo presentation
  • Overall phone layout

If something doesn't look right, go back to that section and change it.

The editor is designed around this back-and-forth process.

Edit → preview → adjust → preview again.

Save the Status or Settings

If you're happy with the result, use Save Status.

If you're working with the display configuration, use Save Setting.

The editor also has Saved Statuses and Saved Settings areas, so you can keep configurations for later projects instead of rebuilding the same setup.

This becomes especially useful if you're creating several mockups with a similar phone layout.

What Can You Use a WhatsApp Status Mockup for?

A status mockup can be useful whenever you need to show an interface without actually using the messaging platform.

Design and UX Projects

Create realistic-looking interface examples for:

  • UI/UX presentations

  • Wireframe demonstrations

  • App concepts

  • Portfolio projects

  • Client presentations

  • Design testing

Marketing

Use a status-style interface to present:

  • Campaign concepts

  • Product announcements

  • Promotional creatives

  • Social media ideas

Product Testing

Teams can use mockups to demonstrate how a proposed feature or design might appear before building the actual interface.

Education and Presentations

Create visual examples for:

  • Tutorials
  • Classroom demonstrations
  • Training material
  • Presentation slides
  • Design documentation

Video and Creative Projects

Generate interface visuals for fictional scenarios, storyboards, demonstrations, or other creative projects.

Why This Workflow Works for Mockup Projects

The advantage isn't just that you can make a dummy status image.

It's that you can control the context surrounding the status.

A blank image can show your creativity.

A configured phone screen can show your creativity inside an experience.

That difference can be useful when you're presenting an interface, demonstrating a product idea, explaining a campaign, or preparing a visual prototype.

And because all the sections are independently adjustable, you can change one part without having to redesign everything else.
